Ilustration Concering Books Mr. Monster (John Cleaver #2)

I killed a demon. I don't know if it was really, technically a demon, but I do know that he was some kind of monster, with fangs and claws and the whole bit, and he killed a lot of people. So I killed him. I think it was the right thing to do. At least the killing stopped.

Well, it stopped for a while.

In I Am Not a Serial Killer, John Wayne Cleaver saved his town from a murderer even more appalling than the serial killers he obsessively studies.

But it turns out even demons have friends, and the disappearance of one has brought another to Clayton County. Soon there are new victims for John to work on at the mortuary and a new mystery to solve. But John has tasted death, and the dark nature he used as a weapon---the terrifying persona he calls "Mr. Monster"---might now be using him.

No one in Clayton is safe unless John can vanquish two nightmarish adversaries: the unknown demon he must hunt and the inner demon he can never escape.

In this sequel to his brilliant debut, Dan Wells ups the ante with a thriller that is just as gripping and even more intense. He apologizes in advance for the nightmares.

Evaluation Of Books Mr. Monster (John Cleaver #2)
In the second book of the series, young John Cleaver continues to battle the forces of evil...both inside of him and out in the world. He does his best to stick to his list of rules that should help prevent him from becoming a serial killer, even if that is all he knows would actually make him feel fully alive. He struggles to communicate with the rest of society because he's got no empathy but he tries, and he tries hard. But in this book, *something* is taunting him, marking him, inviting him

You can't really write a review of this book for a couple of reasons. One, you're not going to be able to do it justice. You'll try to convey how stay-up-all-freakin-night, can't-turn-the-pages-fast-enough good it is...but you can't; it will all just sound like hyperbole. And two, you can barely write a summary of it without giving away plot points that are much more fun to discover as the story progresses. And I guess there's the stigma of saying that a book about a sociopathic, teenage

This review and other odd-shaped monsters on Blood Red Velvet.About a year ago I made the chance discovery of Wells' other novel, The Hollow City, which I have honestly not been able to find an equal of in its unique concoction of genres. A novel with zero flaws in my eyes. So of course what had I to do but to read literally everything else Wells had written? And absolutely *zero* of his books have been a disappointment, or even below a solid four-out-of-five stars.I've read all of the John

This is wrong. This is exactly what I've always wanted, and exactly what I've always wanted to avoid.I can't tell my dreams from my nightmares.Dang it, Dan Wells. I got other books to read. Places to be. Emotions to not be spent on fictional cats that may or may not be dead. At least I tore through this in two sittings.Shooooot this is was so much more emotionally charged than the last and I loved it for that. Seriously, IS this YA? We're sorta pushing it. Lots of uncomfortable and creepy

Another 5 stars audio and riveting story!!!!

This book is a bit hard to rate...and review. ***Please note***: I AM ASSUMING YOU HAVE READ I Am Not A Serial Killer which is the first volume of this "story". THERE WILL BE SPOILERS FOR THAT BOOK HERE.I find many things about this/these book(s) interesting and well done. I also find a lot about (especially this one) objectionable. The books attempt to walk the lines between slasher/horror/urban fantasy. The first book follows John as he struggles with his own "verging" sociopathy. He has

Writing a series is tough work. Ive been thinking about this some lately. The common adage in screenwriting (and Id think, in novel writing as well) is that to be worthy of a movie (or novel), it has to be an event that can only take place once in a persons life. Anything other than that and, well, then youve chosen the wrong story to tell. So, of course, that is a truism, but when I think about series (be they movies or books), when they dont work I think oftentimes its because that particular
