Interpretation Supposing Books When Darkness Comes (Guardians of Eternity #1)
It’s been a hell of a day for Abby Barlow. In just a few hours, she’s survived an explosion, watched her employer die, had a startling dream, and now she finds herself in a seedy Chicago hotel with the sexy, unearthly Dante, a vampire she both desires and fears. For 341 years, Dante has stood as guardian to The Chalice, a mortal woman chosen to hold back the darkness. A terrible twist of fate has now made Abby that woman. Three hours ago. Dante would have used all his charms to seduce her. Now she is his to protect. And he will do so until his very death.
A terrifying plan has been set in motion, one that will plunge Dante and Abby into an epic battle between good and evil – and a desperate race to save their love…

I really wasn't sure how I was going to feel about Dante in the first couple of chapters but I loved him. He seemed a little cold and false to me at first. But he definitely was not. He has been secretly pining for Abby for months. He may be cold and ruthless with others but to Abby he was loving, kind, supportive and open. Abby was snarky at times but just the right amount. She had lived such a tough life. She was almost afraid to hope for someone for herself because of all she'd been through. For those of you who don't have a relative or friend who's trying to prove how OVER something they are by constantly mentioning it, here is your chance to experience the wonderful thing that is paradox behaviourism. - I'm not saying it's not possible for a person to behave like this, but when people are constantly complaining about the woe that is them, while also demanding everyone to acknowledge their superior mindset, strength and overall existence, it becomes somewhat annoying. I don't give many "bad" reviews because I generally get to read books I know will be good or books recommended to me by people I trust. That was not the case with this book, recommended to me by someone who obviously doesn't know me as well as they thought. This book was published in Jan 2007. I only heard about it recently. I read it because I was looking for a strong vampire series. This is NOT it.First, I don't like books with a lot of sex, or panting about sex, or lusting for sex without some
Its been years since I have read this series (2012) so I am rereading in preparation for the new book. I really enjoyed Dante and Abby's story. I had forgotten how unique this world was and all the different creatures in it. I can't wait to rediscover the rest of the series.
Sadly, this is a very weak three stars. It was sooo hard to read this book. It just didn't keep my interest. My attention kept wandering, until there would be an appealing snippet that caught it, and then it would be off again. Honestly, this is not a bad book. It's just underwhelming to a die-hard paranormal fan who has some favorite series that Bring It. I know that it's First Book Syndrome, because there are some ideas that I like about this series, that will make me keep reading (which is a
3.5 A Good Enough First In A Series Stars
I really liked this beginning to a new series for me!! The mythology is kind of great, and the author didn't overload us with it in this first book...it seemed like she only revealed as much as we needed to know and more will be revealed as the series goes on. I hate first books that get bogged down by world-building.I have to admit that Abby really annoyed me at the beginning of the book, but she grew on me as the story moved along. She was suddenly hit with a bunch of mayhem and she coped
