The Green Mile, Stephen King’s #1 New York Times bestselling novel, was first published twenty years ago in six installments. Inspiration for the Oscar-nominated film starring Tom Hanks about an innocent man on death row, The Green Mile is now available for the first time in e-serial form. Coffey on the Mile is Volume Six.

The final chapter in this six-part novel tells us of John Coffey’s fate. The story also brings us to the present day story of Paul Edgecombe and learn of the consequences of his actions during his time on E Block with John Coffey.

Criticism Of Books Coffey on the Mile (The Green Mile #6)
Because John Coffey. And Paul Edgecomb. And Mr. Jingles.Ive loved and loathed this reread and having finished am feeling a little like Ive been through a blender. On top speed. So many seemingly small, yet ultimately significant details, Id forgotten.Moments and reveals within each novella have stayed with me for many hours after putting the book downall of them woven together in a way that somehow seems to have both tarnished and restored my faith in humanity.

Is it the best that a serial can be when both the MC and the reader just feels the horrible need to *rest* after reading it?Perhaps that's what Stephen King intended, whether or not he's implying that the balance of the world is truly on a knife's edge or not, but it doesn't change the fact that this series, even when taken as the serial that it was intended, is emotionally draining.Coffey is truly an odd Christ-figure.Sure, I'm used to this kind of thing in literature, and SK's nice twist on it

Coffey's walk down the green mile and Paul tell his friend what he has lost and gain with Coffey's touch.

I enjoyed the whole series, which I read in the original serial form, although I don't see why the one-volume edition would not work as well. I had already seen the film several times, and it was so faithful to the written story (unlike many adaptations of King novels) that I would think Stephen King himself must have liked it.

OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S OVER! This one was amazing but so utterly heartbreaking. I read this in about 3 hours and could not put it down. I think this series was something I found easy to connect with and the characters were so layered making you feel as if you actually new them. This will probably stick with me for most of my life.

This was a very satisfying end to the serial.

Wow, what an emotional ending. Loved every sentence of it. Fabulous writing and great story. I enjoyed it all the way. Amazing way to get your imagination going.
