Representaion Concering Books Preach My Gospel: A Guide To Missionary Service
(February 2015)We used the Preach My Gospel manual for our family scripture study over the last several months. While the early chapters were beneficial, the second half of the book applied much more specifically to missionaries, and we moved through it very quickly. I found it much more meaningful using it for personal study the first time I read it, as it was written to be studied intently by a mature reader. Helping children learn from it is more difficult. Still, I think it was valuable to have our family familiarize ourselves with what the missionaries of the church study and teach.

I read this several years ago for my personal scripture study, reading all the scriptures and doing the suggested writing activities as I went through the manual. I tried to approach it as if I were a new investigator, wondering exactly what I would think and feel if I were hearing the principles of the gospel for the first time. It was a really uplifting experience. This is truly an inspired resource, and it's not just for missionaries!

Use for personal scripture study. Currently studying chapter 6: developing Christlike attributes. Using it as the skeleton for Fhe each line in the chapter can have a whole lesson built on it. So great!!!An LDS manual that provides a gospel overview.
Wow, the more I read this book, the more I find I don't know and there is more to learn. I have learned a lot from this book how to reach out with God in Love to get to know my Neighbors (you can't Love your Neighbors unless you get to know them though God's eyes) and this book(if done long enough) does just that :) and more!
So, D&I read this in conjunction with our Scripture study when moving out to Virginia and we're just wrapping up. Nice reminder about why we "Preach the Gospel". Because there are those out there seeking for the truth and know not where to find it. One of my first interactions here when someone asked me about being Mormon I ended up getting lost in a discussion about the Nicean Creed. Umm. The other guy had zoned out 10 minutes ago. I think this helped me settle down and just realize answer
Took me awhile to finish but I've been more diligent in reading it lately because of the ever increasing encouragement and emphasis on missionary work. I just read it cover to cover this time but I plan on using it more in depth by doing some of the activities and reading scripture references. From now on, this book will become a close companion to my scripture study.
An excellent manual that not only teaches the gospel of Jesus Christ clearly and simply, but also has chapters on learning to study, to draw closer to the Holy Ghost, to be more like Christ. It is geared towards the missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, of course, but a lot of good stuff to know for "normal people" too. Lots of space for notes, great reference scriptures and room to add more.
Completely blown away by the pure truth simply spoken through this manual. They keep urging us to read it and use it for scripture study and oh boy do I wish I had done it sooner! Life-changing principles if applied!And now that I've finished it I have also come away with a much clearer picture of each member's responsibility to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And how much of the missionary process is meant to help us do that!
