Chronicle To Books Elizabeth's Video Fever (Sweet Valley Kids #36)
This is another strongly moral SVK book, with video game addiction getting the Sweet Valley treatment. The game itself isn't exactly the sort of thing that makes people WoW widows in this day and age—it reminded me more of Frogger!—but this was 1993 after all and we're talking about second graders. I think it's well done, on the whole, but that Elizabeth (view spoiler)[gets over the addiction way too easily. I feel like it would be more realistic and help kids to be more sympathetic towards people with more serious addictions if Elizabeth found it harder to put the game down and was tempted to pick it up again when her friends talked about playing. Video & computer games are pretty addicting, which is one of the reasons I could relate to this story.Francine Pascal (May 13, 1938 ) is an American author best known for creating the Sweet Valley series of novels. In 1982 she created the characters and the stories for the first six books and her agent, Amy Berkower of Writers House sold them to Bantam Books. Book number one is mostly written by Ms. Pascal.
